Adrenal cancer
It is estimated that in Italy approximately 3-5 percent of individuals have an adrenal mass. Fortunately, only 10 percent of these are malignant tumors.
According to the latest available data, the incidence is approximately 1-2 cases per million people. Only in approximately 30 percent of cases is the diagnosis made in the early stages. Adrenal cancer most often affects subjects between the ages of 30 and 50. Another subgroup at greater risk compared to the general population is children under the age of 5.
The University Hospital Biobank of Padova processes and stores samples of tumor tissue and healthy counterparts, together with the respective blood products, according to its Operating Procedures, updated to the most recent national and international regulatory and scientific developments. The clinical data of patients related to the samples are continuously updated following the follow-up of the cases treated.
